The Task
Design a family-style home with outdoor entertaining as a priority, emphasizing a light and bright atmosphere with options for celestial windows. The design should be cost-effective, include a small workshop attached to the garage, and showcase modern industrial style, utilizing the view to the river in the western corner of the block.
The Result
A striking yet cost-effective skillion roof design, providing an architectural look without the associated cost. Incorporating a recycled look brick paired with concrete-style features, complemented by dark grey window and door frames, creates a modern industrial aesthetic. Subtle touches of timber add warmth and cohesively tie together the elements, resulting in a stunning and contemporary design.
The 2.5-car garage serves multi-use purposes, functioning as a workshop or storage for a small boat or golf cart. The large wrap-around entertaining area seamlessly integrates with an outdoor kitchen, extending the living space. Celestial windows over the living and dining areas maximize the use of North Easterly light, while a large window in the living area frames a picturesque view of the river.
